Steve Gelb - Steve brings over 10 years of experience working at the intersection of the environment and equity by building coalitions, launching programs and supporting policy advocacy. He founded SustainableWorks, a non-profit residential energy efficiency organization that developed a community-based program to retrofit over 1,000 homes. As a union shop, SustainableWorks pioneered high road workforce standards in the residential energy efficiency sector. Since then, as a Regional Director for the Emerald Cities Collaborative, he has developed Community Workforce Agreements, launched the RENEW Affordable Housing Energy Efficiency Program, and developed pathways to energy trade careers for members of underserved communities. Steve founded Shift Zero’s statewide Building Electrification Task Force and Equity First Team and has served or serves on advisory boards for the WA Construction Center of Excellence, South Seattle College’s Sustainable Buildings Technology Program, Seattle City Light’s Integrated Resource Plan, and Seattle’s Green New Deal Oversight Board.
