The mass adoption of heat pump technology is a critical component of our nation’s efforts to fight climate change. Efforts are being made to mitigate barriers with manufacturers and contractors by reducing the upfront costs to homeowners. Just as we are trying to make homes ‘heat pump ready’ by providing weatherization and upgrading electric service levels, homeowners need to be ‘heat pump ready’ as well by increasing awareness, providing education, and direct-to-homeowner consulting services. Recognizing that design, sizing, and equipment selection are complicated and unique to every home and homeowner’s goals, providing personalized assistance reduces the sales cycle time and increases conversions for contractors. We will show how the work being done through Energize CT utility-sponsored heat pump consulting program is influencing the marketplace and the benefits to contractors.
