Workforce Development Programs & Partnerships

This session will introduce several workforce partnerships and programs that you can utilize in your organization and community. Beginning with "The Roots of Success" an Environmental Education, Literacy and Job Training Program for those not familiar with our industry. Learn how Roots of Success uses it's curricula to introduce 10 modules related to energy efficiency, waste, water, transportation and sustainability and community leadership. This session will introduce the program, how to become an instructor, and briefly review  the curriculum. Next, hear an update from BPI about an exciting workforce partnership program happening in NY with NYSERDA and other partners. Learn more on how this program came to be and if its replicable for you. Then hear from the Urban Efficiency Group, a Chicago-based, minority-owned utility implementation contractor and community sustainability design firm dedicated to advancing energy equity. Learn about partnerships their team is working on in the Chicagoland area. Finally, hear from Earth Forward Group, a woman-owned small sustainability firm focused everyday on workforce development partnerships, programs and career connection initiatives. Hear how their partnerships with schools, utilities and governments expand building performance practices the current workforce to every day contractors and the emerging young professionals.
