This interactive presentation will share lessons learned with contractors looking to scale their own business, and discuss how program administrators & implementers can structure their programs to foster contractor growth.
In 2013 HomeWorks Energy was a 5-person energy efficiency contractor in Massachusetts struggling for survival. In 2022, as the largest Home Performance Contractor in the state, HomeWorks performed more than 31,000 energy assessments, 11,000 residential weatherization jobs, and installed more than 1,500 HVAC units. The lessons learned along the way provide a blueprint for growth for other contractors looking to scale, and for programs looking to encourage contractor growth. Discussion topics include capacity alignment, diversification, metrics and reporting, and program structure.
HomeWorks Energy has learned the hard way how to navigate the roadblocks on the path from a small contracting business into a high-volume program leader, and aims to share that knowledge to help others achieve the same growth, dramatically increasing our long-term impact on the environment and in our communities.
